Building green

We respect the needs of our clients and the environment

We assume people will still be living in our homes 75 or 100 years from now, so we build  for the long term. The longer a dwelling remains viable, the more “green” it is. We take a conservative approach to using newer technologies, incorporating only those that we believe have staying power.

Our homes typically include

  • Weather-resistant cement board siding
  • Stone veneers
  • Long-lived clad windows
  • Lifetime metal roofing

An artful approach

We often find creative ways to use reclaimed materials. Not only does this help keep materials out of the landfill, it also adds character that’s impossible to match with new materials–even when those new materials have been made to look old.

We’ve used reclaimed materials for floors, structural beams, decorative beams, wall and trim material, doors, windows, cabinets and even furniture that we modified to meet a new purpose. Reuse satisfies two fundamental elements for us: the respect of the materials and craftsmen that have come before us and the creation of something new from something old.
